2020 Event is now Virtual!

Beginning of October - Online Auction

October 17 - Pick up Bowls at Christ The Servant

The Empty Bowls Committee of Denton has been in deep conversation about the COVID-19 pandemic and our next steps for this year. We typically would enjoy a soup and bread lunch with our guests surrounded by tables of handcrafted bowls that guests would take home to remind them of those who are hungry.

Unfortunately, with the Coronavirus situation, we believe it is our responsibility to transition our luncheon to a Virtual Empty Bowls Event this year. We have beautiful bowls from some talented artists we would love to share with you through online sales and an online auction as well. We will be holding the sale and online auction the beginning of October with Saturday, October 17, 2020 (our original luncheon date) as the day to pick up your bowls.

We will have more details coming soon about the auction specifically, and how you can still support Empty Bowls of Denton. 100% of the proceeds from this annual fundraiser benefit Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and Denton Community Food Center. Each event bowl sold provides 10 meals to people in need in our community. Food insecurity is more prevalent than ever and we hope you will be able to help us support these two amazing organizations.

As you can imagine this was an extremely difficult decision for us to make. Because of the set-up of the Luncheon, there is no way to ensure the safety of our volunteers and guests. Our hope is to return to a luncheon event in 2021.

What is Empty Bowls?

Picture - Bowls Table LowEmpty Bowls is an international effort to fight hunger.  We are fortunate to have this program right here in Denton for the benefit of our community.

Empty Bowls is a fundraising luncheon where ticket-holders select a handcrafted bowl of their choice, and are served bread and delicious soup...a ministry of Christ The Servant Lutheran Church in Denton.

All proceeds from this benefit are given to assist the Denton Community Food Center and Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen located at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.

Get Involved!

ebhands302Contact the church office if you want to be involved.  Professional artists of all kinds can help; from potters who donate bowls, to artists who glaze and fire bowls, to professionals in other media who promote the event.  If you're not an artist, then you can still help us raise money to feed the hungry in Denton.

We have already begun to collect bowls and artwork for the next luncheon. We would also love to make a presentation to your group, about the needs of the hungry in our community, and how you can help.
